ITS International Summit: collaboration and co-creation as the engine for smart mobility

· events,mobility,Smart Mobility

Last week the first ITS International Summit in the Netherlands took place, providing a sounding board for discussions around mobility as a service and automated & connected vehicles. This prominent event on smart mobility was hosted in Amsterdam by Connekt, an independent network for smart, sustainable and social mobility. All International ITS partners and members of the Connekt network were invited for an interesting afternoon during which the participants could seek for knowledge, inspiration and good practises. Calendar42 was asked to share insights on mobility and the power of connecting people. A great opportunity to show recent developments in implementing smart mobility solutions in businesses.

During the preliminary programme we gave substance to the first keynote ‘disruptive innovations in mobility’. The central question was what we as a start-up are doing today with smart mobility and what we consider as the next steps. We believe that for smart mobility the world needs an open information chain, and a high degree of collaboration and co-creation in order to stimulate quality, competition and innovation. In this perspective, end-users should be enabled with intuitive, dialogue based and highly automated tools. They are the ones who have to embrace and adopt mobility solutions for a smart mobility market to fully disclose, optimise and disrupt. Transparency and reliability play a huge role in that process.

Our consultant Martin Jansen did the honours for Calendar42, receiving enthusiastic responses of the participants, especially when visualizing our insights. He presented our ridesharing initiative Toogethr and our visit planning feature during the session as examples of how smart mobility could currently be integrated in businesses. By showing how we have employed our insights on this subject in concrete solutions, it became clear how smart, but easy-to-use applications can connect people and stimulate sharing - thus facilitate collaboration and co-creation. These are the results of combining the C42 planning & mobility platform with concrete ideas on mobility issues organizations are dealing with today.
